My Baby's First Photoshoot

This past summer, I became a mother.

It has been just so amazing since my son has arrived. I never knew it was possible to love someone more and more everyday. He brings Eddie and I new levels of happiness we couldn’t have imagined. He is oh so precious, it hurts!

So when he turned a month old, we had a little photoshoot! This is for OMIYAMAIRI, it is a Japanese tradition and a Shinto ritual to visit a shrine when a baby turns a month old. It is similar to the Christian baptism ceremony. We visit the shrine for the newborn to receive blessings and give thanks for the birth of the child. Also, to pray for the baby to grow up well and healthy.

Here are the photos from my baby’s first professional photoshoot. He looks so different and grown now that he is 3 months old. I’m so glad we had a photoshoot to remember how he was as a baby. Enjoy!

Traditionally, the parents wear kimonos and the baby wears a special white dress, with a kimono draped over. To make this day even more special my son is wearing a kimono that was my little brother’s, and this kimono has my family crest designed on to it.

He lost his baby hair and almost looks like a little old man! Yet so precious.

His grandparents!

Some of the Mommy & Daddy photos.

With Daddy.

With Mommy.

He was awake the first 5 minutes of the shoot. And not even a minute after the shoot was over, he woke up!

His tiny feet.

And his tiny hand.

I am so very glad we got this memory captured in a very traditional Japanese way. I had always dreamed of having a photoshoot with Eddie in a kimono too. These photos are beyond special to me! Thank you for taking your time for our special day, I hope it warmed your heart up!
