It’s a good news to ballerinas!
Have you checked Copenhagen Fashion Week’s street style this year? Fall/Winter 2019 and Spring/Summer 2020 are full of trends inspired by 16 century fashion & ballet costumes!
Puff sleeves, balloon sleeves
Juliet Style (literally)
Tulle skirts, tulle dress, tulle everything
Ruffle and lace details
Crystals and pearls
If you are a ballerina, you have already noticed… These are all what we wear on the stage! It’s almost like we can just go in public wearing our costumes. As a ballerina I appreciate that ballet style is now so recognized in street fashion, and hope it brings more people to ballet shows!
So today I’m sharing my most “ballerina look” I’ve worn outside of the theater - but if you’ve been following me a while you know I don’t wear everything sweet head to toe. Another reason why I love ballet inspired street style is that people are wearing romantic ballet-ish items with some business-ish items. For example: tulle skirt with a crisp shirt and a blazer, a big ballon sleeve top with tailored trousers… Ah I love this kind of “fashion math”!
Here I am wearing a tulle top with a pair of white jeans, mixing seashells and gold. I’ve seen tulle skirts/dresses but I’ve never seen a tulle top that really reminds me of ballet, so when I saw it I HAD TO GET IT!
