The best 3 Vintage Stores in Philly

Happy New Year!

Hope you had magical holidays and are well! I spent time at home relaxing, now I’m ready to enjoy 2019! Have you gone shopping this year yet? If not, this post maybe a good one for you…

Thrift shopping is one of my favorite things to do!

I looove thrifting - I’d rather shop at vintage stores than malls. I love finding one of a kind to be a one of a kind human being. I started thrifting back when I lived in Japan and was probably 14 or 15. I used to hit recycle stores in my town or went all the way to Harajuku where all the COOL vintage stores are. Wow, thinking about back then just made me feel so old…

I’m also a huge fan of vintage dishes. When I was a teenager I was oh so crazy about the Fire King mugs/dishes by Anchor Hocking. I still am crazy about Fire King, but my big collection of them is at my home in Japan. I have a little bit here in my American home too.

So today, I’m sharing my 3 favorite vintage shops in Philly, where I do a lot of vintage hunting. There are so many vintage shops in Philly and I’ve been to the most of them, but these 3 shops are my absolute favorite because they always have something I’m looking for, and most importantly, with affordable prices.

From vintage fur jackets to old film cameras, Retrospect has everything. I got so many vintage clothes, home decors, and shoes from here. I personally adore their HUGE shoe collections, which I always end up not leaving this place without buying a pair. Everything is perfectly divided by items and colors (OCD’s dream!) and this is a very very fun place to shop at. Retrospect is owned and operated by Goodwill Industries, so everything is ridiculously affordable!

This place stands right around the corner from Retrospect, remodeled from an old movie theater. And Philly Aids Thrift distributes it’s proceeds to 19 local AIDS/HIV service organizations! - This place has so many random things and I see so many random people here every time. It’s loved by everyone! They sell clothes, home decor, furnitures, kids toys, books, music, literally everything in 2 stories. A lot of people comes to sell/donate stuff too. There is slightly a theme for each rooms, and I love how they are retro and mixed random at the same time.

I must say, Meadowsweet is my #1 favorite vintage shop in Philly! This boutique is in Old City, which is my favorite area of Philly - everything about this place is my favorite! They have so many vintage items that are SO IN TREND, a lot of designer brands’ items, and they also bring local artists/designers’ pieces. If you are a vintage lover fashionista ALSO an Instagrammer, this is the place to go! Everything you see here is HOT on trend. They know what’s on trend at any seasons. Also they change their interior seasonal and it’s so cute I can’t stop drooling over every time when I visit here. This place isn’t as affordable as other 2 shops, but very affordable for what they have. I’m telling you, Meadowsweet is the best!
